VIDEO:- Bulls vs Highlanders Super Rugby highlights

Despite scoring four tries to the Highlanders’ two, the Bulls lost the match as Sopoaga produced a kicking masterclass with a perfect seven from seven.

It was a great smash and grab performance from the Highlanders who only had 35 percent of the ball. They made 170 tackles and missed 24 while the Bulls only had to make close to 50.

The Bulls’ scrum dominance resumed as normal, with Lizo Gqoboko filling the void left by Pierre Schoeman seamlessly, winning the man-of-the-match award in his first Super Rugby start. However, the Highlanders nullified the Bulls’ driving maul excellently, which had previously been a key weapon for the Pretoria side. Tactically, the Bulls perhaps should have taken the three points at times.

The Wine production in South Africa is drying up in the water crisis

South Africa is set for a steep decline in wine production in 2018 as the country grapples with a water crisis ravaging Cape Town and surrounding areas, a Paris-based global organisation said Tuesday.

Africa’s top wine producer is set to produce 8.6 million hectolitres of wine this year, down 20.4 percent down from 2017, the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) said in a statement.

The Western Cape region has gone without significant rains for more than three years, forcing South Africa’s second city to slash residential water consumption.

While cautiously welcoming the water shortage’s impact on improved grape flavours, South African winemakers have been struggling with the drought, which has sown panic across the Cape Town area.

Rugby News: Bryan Habana calls time on career

Springbok legend, Bryan Habana has announced that the current season will be his last in professional rugby.

The 34-year old has been plying his trade at French Top 14 outfit, Toulon and has spent much of the current campaign in the sidelines as he has been plagued with injuries, which have seen him not taking part in any competitive action since the start of 2018.

He made the announcement on Tuesday, as he took to social media, saying he would have preferred a better end to his career.

“I, like most, would have liked my career to have ended differently, but sometimes things don’t turn out quite the way we hope for,” he wrote.

“So at the end of this season, it’s time to say goodbye and thank you to the game I so dearly love.”

Super Rugby News: Latest results, table and fixtures for the weekend as on 22 April

Brumbies 20-25 Jaguares
The Jaguares pulled off another stunning victory in Canberra on Sunday. The men from Buenos Aires shocked the Rebels last weekend and many were wondering if they could bag another away win.

They were on the front foot from the outset with Matias Orlando crossing the line in just the fourth minute and despite a few late tries from the Brumbies, the Jaguares went into the break 13-10 ahead.

Chance Peni’s try in the 67th minute kept the hosts in the game, reducing the gap to three points once more, but any hopes of mounting a comeback were soon quashed when Emiliano Boffelli scored with only 10 minutes left on the clock.

The win sees the Jaguares move above the Stormers on the SA conference.

Rugby News: Jake’s “racist” XV for Wales Test slammed by ex-Bok

Ollie believes Jake has good intentions, but he would be following a “racist policy”.

Jake White urges Rassie Erasmus to be racist and pick black players against Wales

Former Springboks coach, Jake White feels the upcoming once-off Test against Wales is the perfect opportunity for the side’s new mentor, Rassie Erasmus to signal a commitment to transformation.

The Boks take on the Dragons in a historical match, that will be played at Washington DC on 2 June, a week before they are set to take on world number two, England, in a three-match series.

The Test falls outside World Rugby’s official international window, which could pose problems for Erasmus if he’s looking to strengthen his squad with overseas-based players, and White feels he can work around this by selecting a predominantly black team – also getting a head start towards the 50% quota that will be calculated across the season.
