Who are the highest paid South African cricketers?

The big-spending franchises in the IPL (Indian Premier League) have invested in some South African talent for this year’s competition.

The conclusion of the fourth Test between South Africa and Australia not only signalled the end of Morne Morkel’s international career, it also meant the end of the international season for both sides as attentions will soon be diverted to the Indian Premier League (IPL).

As loyalty to a franchise has been known to depend largely on its personnel in this particular competition, avid South African cricket fans will keep a keen eye on their compatriots plying their trade in one of world sport’s most popular annual tournaments.

With Heinrich Klaasen called up to replace the disgraced former Australian skipper, Steve Smith at the Rajasthan Royals, the number of South Africans to look out for now sits at nine.

These are five South African in line for a massive payday in this year’s edition of the IPL.

Rabada suspended for two Tests – here’s what CSA can do

Kagiso Rabada has been suspended for South Africa’s next two Test matches for being a bit naughty and a bit angry. But Cricket South Africa do have a few options…

The quick was found guilty of a Level 2 offence of the ICC Code of Conduct. That relates to “inappropriate and deliberate physical contact with a player”.

Rabada has also been fined 50% of his match fee and handed three demerit points after a disciplinary hearing following his denial of the charge.

Because he has racked up eight demerit points in a 24-month period, he is automatically suspended for two Tests.
